Are you currently using the Values Exchange to support teaching? If yes, please tell us a little about it.
The Values Exchange (Vx) has been used here at AUT since 2005, when it was set up by David Seedhouse. All undergraduate health science students experience the system within a professional practice and ethics course. This includes students from podiatry, paramedicine, psychology, applied mental health, health promotion & physiotherapy. As from 2009, undergraduate medical laboratory science students will also learn and use the Vx. We use the framework throughout the course but also for assessment purposes, offering students generic and discipline specific cases to deliberate, which are submitted for grading against course assessment criteria. Students also produce a reflective essay on their experiences of using the Vx, providing any insight about ethical reasoning and implications for their future practice. There is also limited use of Vx with some postgraduate courses.
